Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra

The Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra (The Domus of the Stone Carpets) is one of the most important archaeological sites recently discovered in Italy. Between 1993 and 1994, a number of buildings dating back from the Roman Republic through to the Byzantine time were discovered in Ravenna. All the rooms are paved with marble tarsia and mosaic, featuring patterns and figures made of polychrome tesserae.

Montebello Castle

Better known as Castle of “Azzurrina”, it dominates the Marecchia Valley from a height of 436 meters. As well as offering breathtaking views, the castle also hides a mystery and has been the scene of mysterious paranormal events, reported by the television programme "Mistero".

This salt is known as Special 'sweet' salt for the purity of the sodium chloride and its low level of bitterness. Particularly suitable for the production of conserves, cold meats and cheese. Cervia's sea salt is completely natural, as it is not artificially dried, so it maintains its natural humidity and is rich with sea water oligominerals.

San Leo

previously known as Montefeltro

is 583 m above sea level in Val Marecchia, perched on a huge rock and the only access is via a road that cuts right through it. Its impregnable fortress is built on the highest point. It was altered by Francesco di Giorgio Martini, in the 15th century, by order of Federico lll da Montefeltro.

San Marino

the oldest republic in the world

According to tradition, it was founded on 3 September 301 A.D., when Saint Marino, a stone cutter from the island of Arbe who escaped the Christian persecution of Emperor Diocletian, established a small Christian community on Mount Titano. The three famous fortresses built on the three highest points of the mountain are of particular historic interest.


Territory and culture

The largest and historically most important city of Romagna. Ravenna is a city with ancient origins and a glorious past. A treasure chest of art, history and culture renowned worldwide, in fact eight of its monuments are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Ravenna also has a rich heritage of mosaics from the 5th and 7th century. For three times it was the capital of the Western Roman Empire of Theodoric’s reign.
